On September 27, Isabel Metcalfe received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her work as Chair of Famous 5 Ottawa. The award is given in recognition of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years of selfless service and devotion to duty.

For Isabel, this is a particularly meaningful award. She’s always admired the Queen as a role model in both her public and private life.

Over the past several years, Famous 5 Ottawa has helped young women gain the confidence they need to consider public life as a career. Based on the principle that public service is a noble and worthwhile endeavour, the organization gives women the opportunities and support they need to make a valuable contribution to Canadian democracy.

This is the second medal Isabel has received from the Queen; in 2002, she was awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal.
